Tzu-Tsen Wu

A native of Taiwan, Tzu-Tsen Wu is a Chicago-based plucked-string multi-instrumentalist, specializing in Zhong Ruan and Liu Qin. Her playing style is deeply rooted in her Taiwanese heritage and enriched by her exploration of various world music styles, including western jazz and classical music. As an active world music specialist, she tours across Asia and the United States as a virtuoso and ensemble musician. She plays in lots of prestigious events as a virtuoso which includes, events of Chinese Fine Arts Society (CFAS), Old Town School of Folk Music, World Refugee Day Chicago, Cultural Festival globally and more. As an ensemble musician, she is the founder of duet band Ruan and Hide, contract musician and friend of Surabhi ensemble and Orchestra Saregama. Additionally, she plays a key role as a musician in the Chicago Immigrant Orchestra ("Best World Music Act" of 2021 by Chicago Reader). Serving as the Artistic Program Coordinator for The Chinese Fine Arts Society of Chicago, she plays a vital role in promoting Chinese culture and music. As a dedicated music educator, Tzu-Tsen is an Adjunct Professor of Music at Oakton College, and she leads the Chinese Music Ensemble at several universities and Chinese schools in Chicago. Her passion for music education led her to co-author a children's music textbook commissioned by the United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Education. With a boundless enthusiasm for performance and collaboration, Tzu-Tsen Wu continues to shine as a remarkable force in the world of music.
